Jedward to represent us at Eurovision?

It feels like Jedward were almost invented for Eurovision – their brand of cheesy pop is just perfect for the annual singing contest. So it makes perfect sense that twins John and Edward Grimes should be battling for the chance to represent Ireland at Eurovision in Dusseldorf later this year.

It has been confirmed that Jedward are officially on the Irish Eurovision shortlist, and the boys will compete against four other acts to win the chance to represent their country. In case you want to know who their competition is it’s rumoured that they’re up against Nikki Kavanagh, The Vard Sisters, Don Mescall and a new foursome who are signed to EMI. Surely the mightly Jedward have this is the bag?

All the acts will work with music biz gurus before they perform their entries on The Late Late Show. A winner will be selected by a combination of vote and the choice of a panel of judges.

Do you think it’s a good idea for John and Edward to take part in Eurovision, or is it too tacky cheesy even for them?

Ted Williams gets a gig!

Hip Hip Hooray for humanity.....last week I reported on "The Homeless Man With The Golden Voice" Ted Williams.....

He was basically picked from obscurity, begging on the streets for a dollar, when the video of his golden voice went to YouTube.....

Now it seems that there's been a massive turnaround in fortunes for Ted and his voice, he is the new stadium announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA team and now this is his first voiceover work for television......

I said it before, this is a great news sotry.......it would warm the cockles of your heart

And, by the way, I don't care about the macaroni and cheese in the ad.....I'm here for Ted!

Jean Byrne on 'That Dress!'

Meteorologist, fashion icon, hot mamma! However you know here, Jean Byrne cetainly is a trendsetter in the fashion stakes!

Here's a selection of her previous outfits and her take on 'That Dress'!

Lord of The Rings duo enjoy some time in Cork!

Dominic Monaghan and Elijah Wood have been holidaying in Ireland in recent days and have ended up in Cork! Last night they were enjoying the social scene in Pana having been to Limerick and Kerry. They arrived in Cork via Macroom....and left via the Old Head walk in Kinsale!

Hope ye enjoyed  to the rebel county lads - don't let the door hit ye on the way out!

Just a regular Friday in Ireland.....

It's nothing new to us in this country - particularly during the last couple of years - business closures, price increases and general injustices to normal people.....

Yesterday it was announced that the VHI premium will be increasing by up to 45% depending on what policy you are on.......would one not be better off now cancelling the VHI and laying our health costs at the door of the HSE? Currently, I pay VHI of €200ish per month, now that will be moving to €231! Would I not be better putting that money into a high interest account every month? I might just give it a go!

Also this week there was a number of big business closures announced in the media with Toni & Guy, Celtic Bookmakers, The Star Sunday and Luigi Malone's all in trouble......to anyone losing their jobs I send you best wishes and kind thoughts.......you're not alone and things will change for the better too!

So, all in all, it's been a normal week for us and I haven't even touched on hospital trolleys and the upcoming general election! Have a great weekend folks !

Was Jean Byrne naked giving the weather forecast last night?

She had a Britney Spears moment on the weather last night and has left hoards of hotblooded men wondering if she was naked underneath the dress....apparently it was expensive so she's paying for ti in instalment, the rest of it arrives next week.......So.....was she? here's the video, you decide!

Has Ireland got a new YouTube sensation?

Have a look at this and you'll see why I'm saying NO! NO! NO!

Now, I understand that some of you will be happy with her and be entertained by her but are we that easily amused that someone who dances around like your embarrassing drunk uncle at a family wedding is now trending worldwide? It looks like we are....and I suppose, If I'm honest, I'm responsible for its spread too.

Watch it, enjoy or hate it, then forget it! I will!

Ted Williams - The Man With The Golden Voice - The Follow Up!

It was like the script from a movie but the life of Ted Williams has been turned upside down in the matter of days thanks to YouTube!

The internet video host has once again come up trumps in taking a nobody and turning him into somebody! The story of Ted seems a little different than the others though, he was a radio announcer in his youth, drink and drugs took hold and ruined his life, now he's clean and the offers seem to be flying in! It's a great news story that seems to have the world holding its breath to see how he fairs out.

Well done Ted, take a bow YouTube and take joy everyone else in this victory!

A more cleaned-up Ted is now the stadium announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA team!

One of the things I found myself enthralled in over the Christmas period was the darts! I used to play a bit as a younger lad, and I still have the figure for it but the atmosphere in the Ally Pally for the darts final at the weekend was superb! No Phil The Power Taylor in sight and it probably made for an even better final!

Congratulations to Adrian Lewis on winning the championships and on this very fine 9 dart finish!

The Man With The Golden Voice!

Apparently he's homeless and living in OHIO!!!! Who'd have thought? I figured he was somewhere in Cork !

Ireland's Christmas Number 1!!!

So the Rubberbandits outsold Ireland's Christmas No.1 Matt Cardle by a country mile but still didn't end up in the coveted top spot!

Why? Well, according to IRMA(Irish Recorded Music Association) single sales are weighted in favour of physical sales as opposed to downloaded sales....meaning that every single physical sale equals 6 downloads! Fair? I think not! A sale is a sale whether it comes on a cd, a download or taped to the back of a fiver surely? Not according to the powers that be!

So, hard luck Bandits! Maybe next year when you might have brought the horse inside.....you get my vote anyway!
